About this project
The City will be reconstructing Regent Street from Colborne Street to Maitland Street, and Fraser Avenue from Regent Street to Huron Street, to replace aging infrastructure that has met its expected lifecycle. The infrastructure no longer meet the provincial standards requiring separation between the pipelines to prevent contamination.
There is an aging trunk watermain located in the wetland of the Huron Street Woods that also needs to be moved to an accessible location.
Partial replacement of existing private drain connections (PDC)
Streetscape improvements and curb bump out at Colborne Street
Tree removals.
Sidewalk replacement
Concrete curb and gutter replacement
New asphalt road surface
New green infrastructure (LIDs)
Aging infrastructure poses health risks to residents in the event of a collapse or break. It is imperative that the City replace the sewers and watermain that were built in the 1930s and 1940s before emergency work is required.
Construction is expected to start in spring 2023 and is anticipated to last until fall 2023 with some minor clean-up work and asphalt paving in spring 2024.
