Update on London’s Micro-Modular Shelter – March 18, 2026

18 March 2026

London’s Micro-Modular Shelter site is now fully operational and nearing its planned capacity of 70 participants. Since move-ins began in late January, people who were previously experiencing homelessness have transitioned into the site through referrals made by London’s Coordinated Access system.

Several partners are now providing weekly health, social, housing, and income support services directly at the Micro-Modular Shelter, including:

  • The Health Outreach Mobile Engagement (H.O.M.E.) Bus, providing mobile health care and outreach services through an interdisciplinary team from multiple agencies. The program offers primary care, basic needs support, and wraparound services for individuals who may face barriers accessing traditional health services.
  • Ontario Works (OW) staff assisting participants with social assistance applications, eligibility reviews, and case management. Ontario Works provides financial assistance for basic needs and shelter costs while also supporting participants in accessing employment and community services.
  • Housing Program Coordinators supporting participants with pathways to permanent housing, including assistance with housing applications, connections to housing programs, and coordination with service providers to support housing transitions.
  • Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) staff supporting individuals who may be eligible for disability income supports.

Together, these services help ensure participants can access income supports, health care, and housing assistance at the Micro-Modular Shelter.

As the site reaches full occupancy, City staff and community partners will continue monitoring service needs and strengthening supports where appropriate. This may include additional connections to employment services, mental health supports, and addiction services as the program continues to evolve.
