The City of London wants to create a city accessible to all Londoners.

In order to create a city that is truly accessible, we need to remove barriers, and build services, programs and spaces that are inclusive for all Londoners. As we wrap up our 2018-2021 Accessibility Plan and begin work on our new plan for the next four years, your input on what those services, programs and space should be will be vital.

After much discussion and engagement with residents, community groups and advocates, the DRAFT Accessibility Plan has been drafted. View the full document here.

Together, we can create a Better London for All.

The City of London's Accessibility Plan involves all areas of City services, from Human Resources to Communications, from Planning to Housing. Since we can plan our own buildings, services, spaces, and programs we can ensure that accessibility and universal design principles are built into the process every step of the way.

While the City of London’s Accessibility plan is focused on areas of City responsibility, we want our plan to include broader education and engagement initiatives for the wider community. By sharing your experiences and ideas with us, we will better understand the experience of inaccessibility in London.

As we embark on the next four year plan, it's important to recognize the impact the 2018-2021 Accessibility Plan has had on making our community more accessible in many different areas. Take a look at some of the Accessibility Achievements & Highlights for our last multi-year plan. You can also review the last City of London Plan for more information on they types of accessible projects the City has been undertaking.

All City of London’s services will benefit from including goals related to accessibility and inclusion. The City of London’s services include Human Resources, Parks, Recreation, Neighbourhood Child and Family Services, and more!

The City's accessibility plan will be guided by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). This legislation is the foundation of our plan. You can fine more information on these accessibility guidelines and supports here.

With your input, we are committed to making a plan that:

  • Provides continuous improvement of accessibility and inclusion in all public and City-owned facilities and spaces;
  • Delivers accessible and equitable customer service in all City service areas;
  • Improves accessibility and inclusion for employees at the City of London;
  • Encourages continuous accessible improvement and community engagement; and
  • Ensures that our 2022-2025 Accessibility Plan is ambitious, inclusive, responsive and thoughtful.

As a London resident, you know your community best and will be able to provide insight and ideas to better our city. We encourage you to contribute to the plan by providing input through the vehicles below.
