Closure update

As of October 14, the Wellington and York intersection is open to northbound and southbound traffic. Construction continues along York Street, which remains closed from Wellington to Clarence Street, and from Wellington to the entrance of the RBC Place underground parking. York Street is expected to reopen by the end of November.

Access to businesses will remain open during construction. Work will continue into 2026, focusing next on York Street between Wellington and Colborne.

About the project

The City is replacing aging infrastructure that has met its expected lifecycle, which involves removing existing combined sewers along York Street. In addition to helping improve the health of the Thames River, this work is necessary to support a growing population by increasing sewer capacity for intensification and development. Utility upgrades is another key project component, ensuring continued operation and reliability of our hydro, energy and communications systems.
