Background

The Old Victoria East Subdivision was approved by the City of London in 2021. At that time a recreational pathway and pedestrian bridge connection was identified consistent with the 2016 Cycling Master Plan update to provide neighborhood connectivity and outdoor recreational opportunities.

About the project

The construction of the pathway and pedestrian bridge work is planned to be implemented in 2027. However, one of the initial stages will occur this coming fall (2025) with selective tree removals along the pathway/bridge alignment to accommodate a geotechnical investigation and future construction of the pathway and pedestrian bridge. Additional tree removals could occur in the fall of 2026.

Accessibility

Proposed pathways are considered a ‘Recreational Trail’ under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, and would meet all technical requirements for accessibility including minimum width, maximum slope, and head clearance space. As part of this project, the City of London is inviting feedback from residents with various disabilities on their specific needs regarding:

  • recreational trails
  • rest areas along exterior path of travels
