In the spring of 2026, the City of London will resume construction to complete the remaining work for the Ridout Street Road Rehabilitation and Cycling Improvements project in your area.
This project was initiated to rehabilitate the roadway and deliver protected cycling connections to help close the gap between Victoria Bridge and downtown.
Major roadway works are already complete, including the replacement of surface asphalt and new signage. The remaining work is localized and includes minor sidewalk replacement, installation of the protected bike lanes, and application of final pavement markings.
Construction was originally anticipated to be completed in the fall of 2025. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the remaining items are being completed in spring 2026. This notice summarizes the remaining scope, anticipated timing, and what to expect during construction.
Project location
The map below shows the approximate location of the work area along Ridout Street, between Horton Street and King Street.

Proposed Work Details
Work to be completed as part of these projects includes:
- Replacement of damaged sidewalks.
- Adding concrete medians (northbound and southbound) in select areas to separate traffic from bike lanes.
- Building a new shared transit stop with a concrete curb.
- Installing durable pavement markings and flexible posts for protected bike lanes.
Please refer to Appendix A for more information on the construction impacts coming to your area and what to expect.
Transportation impacts: Accessibility
A safe and accessible path of travel will be provided for all pedestrians through or around the construction site. If you require special accommodation (level entry, advanced notice, etc.) or have any questions about accessibility around the construction area, please contact the City Project Manager at any time during construction.
Pedestrians
Sidewalk closures and restrictions will be necessary during construction. Safe, accessible pedestrian paths will be provided to the extent possible on at least one side of the road. Signage will be installed to help guide people walking around the temporary sidewalk restrictions.
Motorists
To complete the work as efficiently as possible, lane reductions will be in place during construction.
Motorists can expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes where possible. Access will be maintained for residences and businesses, which remain open during construction. People driving are encouraged to use navigation apps such as Waze or Google Maps to find alternative routes during construction.
Cyclists
Cyclists are encouraged to use nearby streets to reach their destinations in the area and follow detour signs to navigate safely around the construction site.
Transit users
Some London Transit (LTC) bus routes and stops may be impacted during construction. Transit users are advised to visit the LTC website (londontransit.ca) for the most up-to-date information.
