Please note this engagement project has concluded.
To all Oakridge residents – you made a sacrifice that was so important to so many people’s lives by allowing for the creation of the Assessment Centre in your neighbourhood. Now it’s time for us to say thank you through the creation of a neighbourhood enhancement, event or activity.
Ideas with the most votes
This past winter, you shared great ideas to improve the Oakridge neighbourhood. In February, the City asked Oakridge residents to vote on the ideas they’d like brought to life. City staff have counted the ballots, and the ideas with the most votes are in!
Short-term idea with the most votes
The short-term idea that received the most votes was an upgrade to the tennis courts in Oakridge Optimist Park. This upgrade involves resurfacing the tennis courts with new asphalt and painting new coloured lines to improve the overall quality of the court so that it better serves tennis players for years to come.
City staff will aim to upgrade the tennis courts in Oakridge Optimist Park within the next two years.
Long-term idea with the most votes
The revitalization of Oakridge Arena or the creation of a separate community space in Oakridge for programming, storage of equipment, and community meetings and events was the long-term idea that received the most votes. Currently, there is no funding available in the 10-year capital plan to expand Oakridge Arena. City staff will pursue all opportunities for additional provincial and federal funding to support this idea if and when it becomes available.
