Construction Work Details
Pre-Construction Site Preparation Work
As part of the phase 1a project work, the site required preparation work ahead of construction. This preparation work consisted of tree removals, tree trimming and stockpiling of tree material for use within the rehabilitated Mud Creek channel corridor as habitat enhancement features which will be part of the Phase 1b works. An example of a habitat enhancement feature would be the use of a partially buried tree log to create a riffle in the rehabilitated Mud Creek.
Construction is anticipated to commence in September of 2020, and would include:
- Tunnel two new culverts under the CN railway embankment at a lower elevation relative to the existing culvert;
- Rehabilitate and retain the existing culvert under the CN railway embankment;
- Tree removals/clearing from the CN Rail to Wonderland Road;
Phase 1 of the Mud Creek project is complete. Please visit getinvolved.london.ca/mud-creek-phase-2 to learn more about Phase 2 and current work.
