About this project

The Mornington stormwater management pond is being expanded to help protect nearby properties from flooding and erosion. Crews will also be replacing the watermain, storm sewer, and sanitary sewer near the pond where many of the current pipes in the area are more than 100 years old and made of outdated materials. These upgrades will help improve the health of the Thames River.

The City will also be reconstructing Salisbury Street from Quebec Street to Glasgow Street, Glasgow Street from Salisbury Street to Connaught Avenue, and Connaught Avenue from Glasgow Street to the west entrance of McCormick Park to replace and improve the quality and reliability of water, sewer and road infrastructure.

An expanded park area will then be created to the east of the existing pond featuring pathways and benches along with new trees and plants.

Proposed Work Details:

  • Pond expansion of the existing pond
  • Water reservoir removal (underground work to the east of existing pond)
  • Watermain, sanitary and storm sewer replacement
  • Partial replacement of existing private drain connections
  • Sidewalk replacement
  • Concrete curb replacement
  • New asphalt road surface

Construction began on May 31, 2021 and is anticipated to last until fall 2021. Some finishing touches to the pond and park area are expected in 2022.

A tree assessment map is available upon request. Please contact the Project Manager.
