McNay Drain channel cleanout and rehabilitation project

About this project

The City of London is planning a construction project to improve McNay Drain. 

McNay Drain in northeast London helps collect stormwater and directs it towards the Thames River.

This project will help reduce blockages and flooding in the future by reconstructing parts of McNay Drain and removing sediment and debris in the channel. Improvements will also be made to control erosion in the area. 

This project includes:

• Cleaning out the McNay channel and Meander Creek Stormwater Management Facility.
• Restoring the channel on the north side of Kipps Lane where the existing structure is failing in many areas. The restoration will allow for fish passage in the future and help protect the area from flooding.
• Making repairs and improvements to the stormwater infrastructure in Ed Blake Park.
• Replanting the area with native tree species after construction.
