Changes to Lorne Avenue Park and Queens Place
Two exciting projects will bring changes to the Lorne Avenue Park area.
These include a new housing development adjacent to the park, the extension of Queens Place to Lorne Avenue, and the second phase of park improvements in Lorne Avenue Park.
Project #1 - New housing and Queens Place extension
The City is preparing land at 25 Queens Place for a future housing development that includes 12 single detached dwelling lots, with an extension of Queens Place to Lorne Avenue.
To support this future housing, Queens Place will be extended north to connect to Lorne Avenue.
Land preparation and road work timeline:
- Spring 2026: Tree removals will begin soon
- Summer 2026: Road construction is expected to begin in the coming months to extend the road from Queens Place to Lorne Avenue and add sidewalks, boulevards, and underground services.

- Concrete installed at the main entrance to replace the existing gravel
- Additional seating and picnic areas
- Additional tree planting

We're seeking input from area residents about the type of sports court the neighbourhood prefers in Lorne Avenue Park.
The original master plan recommended a ball-hockey court with an overlapping half basketball court which reflected amenities historically used by the neighbourhood on the original school yard. The City would like to confirm whether this remains the community’s preference or if residents would prefer a full basketball court, noting that there is an opportunity to construct either:
Option 1: A multi-use court for basketball (half basketball court and ball-hockey)
Option 2: A full-sized basketball court
