Kensington Bridge Environmental Assessment

About this project

The Kensington Bridge is a 90-year-old structure that that crosses over the North Branch of the Thames River. The bridge carries two lanes of east bound traffic on Riverside Drive and includes cantilevered sidewalks that are supported on the exterior of both trusses. Given the age of the structure, and repair needs, the City of London, in partnership with its consultant, AECOM, has initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study to identify, evaluate and determine the best long-term rehabilitation or replacement alternative solution and design concept for the Kensington Bridge.

Study area

The study area is centred around Riverside Drive / Dundas Street from Wharncliffe Road North to Ridout Street North, with a primary focus on the immediate vicinity of Kensington Bridge.

Current status

The Environmental Study Report has been posted on this webpage and is available for Public Review between January 8 and February 7, 2024. A hard copy is available for review at the London Public Library – Central Branch – 251 Dundas Street, during regular hours and at the City of London Clerk’s office 3rd floor (300 Dufferin Avenue) during regular hours of operation.
