The City of London is planning to reconstruct Ontario Street in your area to replace aging underground infrastructure that has exceeded its expected lifecycle.

Above: The map shows the area where construction will take place. Work is planned on Grand Avenue, from Wellington Road to the east end.

Proposed work details

Work to be completed as part of this road reconstruction project includes:

  • Replacing the watermain
  • Water service replacement to the property line
  • Replacing the sanitary sewer
  • Replacing the storm sewer
  • Partial replacement of existing active private drain connections (PDC)
  • Replacing sidewalks
  • Concrete curb and gutter installation
  • New asphalt road surface
  • Tree removals (see Appendix A)

If you have not completed the pre-construction survey already, we would appreciate you taking the time to fill out the questionnaire sent with the previous communication, to share any feedback you might have related to flooding, water supply, traffic or any other neighbourhood considerations.

The City has evaluated how pedestrians, motorists, and cyclists will be impacted by the construction of this project. We have determined that Grand Avenue will remain open to local vehicle traffic only. There will be a few possible disruptions to driveway access at different points in the project. A designated parking area will be available for those instances. Residents who require accommodation (level entry, advanced notice, etc.) should contact the Project Manager to arrange for access during the construction period. Cyclists and pedestrians should exercise caution around construction sites and follow all construction signs. A Construction Notice will be issued before construction begins with additional information.
