About this project
The City is reconstructing Elizabeth Street (from Dundas Street to Queens Avenue) and Lyle Street (from King Street to Dundas Street) to replace aging infrastructure that has met its expected lifecycle.
This project includes:
Watermain replacement
Water service replacement to property line
Sanitary sewer replacement
Storm sewer replacement
Partial replacement of existing private drain connections (PDC)
Utility upgrades
Streetscape improvements
On-street parking adjustments
Sidewalk replacement
Concrete curb and gutter replacement
New asphalt road surface
Project status
Work on English Street is underway, requiring a full closure between Queens Avenue and King Street until approximately fall 2024.
Construction on Lyle Street was completed in 2023, with some minor clean-up work and asphalt paving in spring/summer 2024. During this time, intermittent lane restrictions will be necessary on Lyle Street between Dundas Street and King Street to complete this finishing work.
Surface reconstruction and tree assessment report maps are available upon request. Please contact the Project Manager.
Above: The map shows the project limits. Work is planned on Elizabeth Street and Lyle Street.
Parking and loading
Upon completion of the project, on-street parking on Lyle Street will be reinstated. A total of 10 parking spaces will be reconfigured in order to make room for new parking bays.
Private parking lot access on Lyle Street will be impacted during construction. Accommodations will be made where possible to facilitate access. Access to the private parking lots located on the east side of Lyle Street will be available from the existing Hewitt Street entrance and the existing Dundas Street entrance.
Municipal parking lot access on Elizabeth Street will be impacted during construction. Access to these parking lots will be available from English Street, Queens Avenue and Adelaide Street.
