About this project
Our downtown is changing and growing quickly, and a new Downtown Plan will be created to help the City of London plan for the long-term future of downtown. The plan will develop strategies that support residential, commercial and employment growth, and establish downtown as a vibrant destination for Londoners and visitors.
Project engagement opportunities
Starting in Spring and Summer 2025, we’ll be connecting with Londoners to gather input that will help shape the plan. Feedback from residents and businesses will be key to ensuring it reflects the needs of the community. Stay tuned for upcoming opportunities to get involved and share your thoughts—and subscribe for updates to stay informed.
Shaping the Future of Downtown
The Downtown Plan will set clear goals and actionable strategies to boost the area's economic growth and residential appeal, turning the vision of downtown in The London Plan into reality. It will outline specific actions for the short term (1-4 years), medium term (5-9 years), and long term (10+ years).
The new Downtown Plan is being created in response to a Council resolution from November 28, 2023, which identified the need for an updated strategy to address the current conditions and challenges facing downtown London.
This plan will be developed through a detailed engagement process, technical analysis of current plans and programs, and reference The London Planand the City’s 2023-2027 Strategic Plan, among other documents.
The project has two main phases:
Phase 1: Gather data and review policies to build the foundation for the plan.
Phase 2: Create the Plan with clear, actionable strategies for the key areas outlined in the plan.
