The City of London has a vision to revitalize our Core Area as the cultural, civic, retail, and economic heart of London, and as a great place to live. Ultimately, we want to improve homelessness prevention, enhance safety and security, ensure there is space for the economy to grow, and create a positive space to attract visitors in our Core Area.

  • Over the last year, the City has received many important comments, concerns and ideas on garbage collection and increased action for recycling from Core Area businesses, residents and the Downtown and Old East Village BIAs.

This has resulted in a number of adjustments that will be implemented beginning in mid-June this year to help the Core Area. These changes will also include further notification for residents, businesses and property owners. There is room for some adjustments in 2021 as these changes begin to take place.

Our goal will be to improve collection in the core this summer and fall while collecting feedback, and then implement a final system in 2022.

We are looking for comments on these changes as they roll out this month and the City will be seeking input from residents and businesses again later this summer.
