The City of London Economic Development Strategy will be a comprehensive roadmap, guiding how London grows, invests, and thrives now and into the future.
This strategy will:
- Foster job creation and innovation
- Attract sustainable investment
- Align with the City's strategic priorities while supporting sustainable growth and inclusive, community-wide prosperity
Why is now the right time?
As the global economy continues to evolve, London must be proactive in responding to new opportunities for growth. This strategy will help London build on its strengths, such as advanced manufacturing, technological innovation, health sciences, and our talented workforce, to ensure we remain competitive, resilient, and inclusive.
Where are we now?
We have taken the first big step toward building London’s new Economic Development Strategy by completing the research and background work that lays the groundwork for the process. Over the past several months, we have connected with business leaders, small businesses, post-secondary institutions, nonprofits, workforce agencies, and others, with a focus on ensuring inclusive and diverse voices are reflected. With virtual and in-person engagement sessions now complete, we are analyzing the feedback received and beginning to draft the new strategy.
