About the project:
The City of London is planning to construct a sidewalk on Leathorne Street between Adelaide Street North and Commissioners Road East in 2026. This project completes a gap in the sidewalk network, improving pedestrian accessibility and safety in this busy area. A pedestrian traffic signal is also being planned at the intersection of Adelaide Street North & Leathorne Street, to be implemented in 2026 as well.
Proposed work details:
The map below shows the proposed sidewalk on Leathorne Street connecting to the existing sidewalks on Adelaide Street South and Commissioners Road East. The sidewalk will be constructed on the north and east side of Leathorne Street.

The City has already completed a detailed land survey, to help determine the feasibility of a sidewalk location on Leathorne Street. City staff will use this survey data to complete an assessment looking at a range of factors, including walking connectivity, pedestrian comfort, street lighting, grading, and potential impacts to trees, hydro poles, driveways, and signage to help determine the best placement and configuration of the sidewalk.
Property and construction impacts:
The City makes every effort to minimize the necessary impacts and will restore boulevards and driveways to the pre-construction condition or better. There will be times when you will not have full access to your driveway, although access will be maintained whenever possible.
To help reduce the disruption to your driveway access, please provide feedback about the type of access your business requires using the Get Involved link below or by contacting the City Project Manager.
The City Project Manager will be onsite regularly should there be any concerns when the project is underway. A construction notice letter will be issued two weeks before construction starts with additional information.
