About this project

The City will be reconstructing Valetta Street from Hyde Park Road to Adevon Avenue. Construction is expected to start in summer 2021 and anticipated to be completed by late fall 2021 with some minor surface asphalt work in spring 2022.

Proposed work details

  • Curb and gutter replaced from Hyde Park Road to Hibiscus Avenue
  • Replacement of all asphalt
  • Removal of concrete road
  • Replacing the watermain from East of Woodborough Street to Hibiscus Avenue
  • Replacing some catch basins
  • Replacing sections of sidewalk
  • Replacing sections of curb
  • Some trees have been removed in preparation for this work, and new trees will be planted the following year by the City

The street would remain open to local vehicle traffic with a few possible disruptions to driveway access at different points in the project. Lawns will be restored at the end of the project with topsoil and sod.

Access to the COVID-19 Assessment Centre will be maintained throughout construction. Commuters are advised to give themselves a little extra time when travelling to the Centre. For more information about the COVID-19 Assessment Centre, please visit the LHSC website.

For more information about trees and potential impacts, please view the narrated project update or contact the Project Manager.
