About stormwater pond upgrades
Stormwater ponds are built to collect rainwater and melted snow from streets and nearby properties. They help clean the water by holding it long enough for dirt, salt, and other pollutants to settle at the bottom before the cleaner water flows into nearby creeks or rivers.
Over time, these pollutants build up and need to be removed so the pond can keep working properly. That’s what this project is all about, cleaning and restoring these ponds to make sure they continue protecting our local waterways.
Before any work begins, environmental specialists carefully check the site for wildlife, including any protected species. If animals are found, the work will follow strict provincial rules to make sure they’re handled safely and respectfully.
