Thames River Clean Up - Spring 2024

Each spring, 1000’s of environmentally concerned volunteers who care about the Thames River and tributaries converge all along the watershed to clean up garbage and debris that is harmful to wildlife and water quality. With the generous support of our sponsors and community partners, each volunteer is supplied with gloves, garbage bags, and a ballot to win a Nova Craft canoe. Volunteers have noticed the Thames River is much cleaner and healthier in part to all their efforts over the years.

What is the difference between the Thames River Clean Up and London Clean & Green?

The Thames River Clean Up is focused on the Thames River and all the tributaries. The Thames River Clean Up is organized through 17 communities in the watershed. Over 1,500 dedicated volunteers worked very hard along 200 km of our Thames River last year.

London Clean & Green encourages litter clean-ups along sidewalks and boulevards across the city, in the downtown, outside of homes or businesses, and in many parks that may not be on the Thames River or its tributaries. However, some of the parks do follow the water and volunteers may participate in both when they clean up in those parks.
