About this project
The City of London is excited to share that we will be adding a new urban park called Kent Park, located at 2715 Buroak Drive, as part of the City’s growth funding as well as the new Neighbourhood Parks Improvement Fund.
Description of the work
The work in Kent Park includes:
Site preparation;
Grading and drainage;
New hard surface pathways;
A new playground;
A half basketball court;
Site furnishings;
Tree planting and ecological restoration.
Woodland management
As part of the project, the existing Woodland feature in Kent Park will be retained. There is no proposed work inside the existing woodland feature. The City will be planting native trees and shrubs in various areas around the perimeter of this woodland to help establish an ecological buffer.
Construction for this project is expected to start in 2025. Please note that the schedule is subject to change based on various factors.
Proposed pathways are considered a ‘Recreational Trail’ under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, and would meet all technical requirements for accessibility including minimum width, maximum slope, and head clearance space. As part of this project, the City of London is inviting feedback from residents with various disabilities on their specific needs regarding:
recreational trails
outdoor play spaces
rest areas along exterior path of travels
We accepted comments about the current design drawing through a feedback form, which closed at 4:30 p.m. on July 5, 2024. If you need information in an alternate format, please contact the project coordinator John Griffin at jgriffin@london.ca or by phone at 519-661-2489 x 4288.
