The Carling Creek Stormwater Management Master Plan was initiated in the spring of 2021. Extensive hydrologic and hydraulic modeling efforts were undertaken to develop a comprehensive understanding of the Carling Creek storm sewer collection system and the historic flooding issues that have plagued the watershed for the last several decades. The hydraulic modeling efforts involved updating an existing InfoWorks ICM storm and sanitary collection system model to reflect current and planned infrastructure renewal projects within the Carling Creek sewershed. Upon completion of the modeling work a series of Master Plan alternatives involving implementation of conveyance and storage strategies to manage stormwater within the Carling Creek watershed. The goal of the Master Plan alternatives is to reduce surface water runoff flooding impacts and thereby increase the level of service of the stormwater collection and conveyance system within the City’s downtown core. The general time-lines for the Carling Creek Stormwater Management Master Plan EA study are anticipated as follows:

Project Kickoff: February 2021

Background Review and Modelling Existing of Catchments: March 2021 – December 2021

Review of Alternatives: December 2021 – Present

Notice of Commencement: December 2021

Project Completion: Summer 2022
