About this project
The City of London will soon begin construction to rehabilitate the Adelaide Street North Bridge, which is located over the Thames River between Windermere Road and Kipps Lane.
The project will extend the bridge service life by 30 years and install active transportation facilities to enhance biking and walking connections in the area as identified in the approved Thames Valley Parkway North Branch Connection Environmental Assessment Study.
As part of the project, a new multi-use pathway will be added along Windermere Road and Adelaide Street North connecting to the Thames Valley Parkway. The new pathway is funded in part by the Federal Active Transportation Fund.

This project includes:
Removal and replacement of various bridge components including the asphalt and waterproofing system, expansion joints, and parapet walls.
Repairs to aging concrete on the bridge deck, girder ends, piers, abutments, east sidewalk and wingwalls.
A new multi-use pathway will be added across the bridge through the removal and replacement of a wider west sidewalk.
Pavement rehabilitation from Windermere Road to Kipps Lane.
Above: A map of the approximate limits of construction
Anticipated impacts:
Reduced lanes will be in place throughout construction, with one lane of traffic being maintained in each direction on Adelaide Street North.
People driving can expect delays and are encouraged to use navigation apps to find alternative routes while the reduced lanes are in place.
Access to businesses and properties will be maintained during construction.
Bike lanes on Adelaide Street North will be closed throughout construction. People biking are encouraged to use nearby streets to reach their destinations and follow detour signs to navigate safely around the construction site.
Some London Transit (LTC) bus routes and stops may be impacted during construction. Transit users are advised to visit the LTC website (londontransit.ca) for the most up-to-date information.
