The River Talks: A Gathering at Deshkan Ziibi

Presentation by Daniel Hsia: Two initiatives: One River and Back to the River

The Thames River is both our inheritance and living legacy. As it is our collective responsibility to maintain and enhance this shared natural, cultural, recreational and aesthetic resource, the City of London, with community partners, such as the London Community Foundation, is developing a Master Plan (titled the One River EA). It is assessing river corridor options for the area surrounding the Forks of the River that was historically influenced by the operation of Springbank Dam. This study, in the context of many other ongoing initiatives to improve the Thames River, will endeavor to align important projects in a way that enhances the river overall, and balances the environmental needs with the priorities and desires of various stakeholders, Indigenous, and community groups.
